Drachma: a silver coin of ancient Greece, dating from about the mid-6th century B.C., and the former monetary unit of modern Greece. The drachma was one of the world’s earliest coins. Its name derives from the Greek verb meaning “to grasp,” and its original value was equivalent to that of a handful of arrows.

Who We Are

We are simply a group of collectors that want to be able to go to one site for all of our numismatic needs. Most other sites do not have all the information we need, and lack the tools necessary to effectively track and display our collections. Any website that was suitable was filled with ads and was not aesthetically pleasing. Piece of Currency hopes to provide a space where collectors can display their coin collections in an ad-free environment.

What We Collect

We collect mostly Canadian pennies but are now branching out into paper, tokens and other decimal currencies. Most of the coins we acquire are online either through eBay, online numismatic stores and through various online communities. We do not live near any big cities so we must rely on the internet to fill our collections.

Goal For Site

The main goal of this site is to provide you with all the information and tools you need for your numismatic collections. This site will always remain ad-free and will be easy to use. We want you to spend your time admiring your collection, not managing it!

Special Thanks

I would like to put out a special thanks for the community at CCF (http://www.coincommunity.com) for all the support you have given this website. Without this support we wouldn't have all the beautiful images these community members have kindly provided. If you don't already have an account I would highly recommend you join CCF as their community is second to none.
